Kazališni
jezik
[english below]
Kontakt osoba: Josipa Lulić, ckp.pokaz@gmail.com.
Theatre Language abstract
The Theatre Language project, which is carried out independently by the Center for the Theater of the Oppressed POKAZ, is aimed at our new neighbors: people with a migrant background who live and work in Zagreb. Community of foreigners in Croatia, especially those who are in a worse social position - persons with approved international protection, foreign workers from third countries in precarious employment - is largely not organized, dependent on humanitarian support, or divided into small informal groups based on common origin or language. Integration policies are almost non-existent, and the lack of knowledge of the Croatian language also makes broader organizing impossible.
The activities of this project include continuous work with a group of foreigners (persons under international protection and foreign workers) through theater workshops focused on language acquisition and on designing counter-narrative in relation to the dominant discourse, as well as the preparation and performance of the legislative theatre that will enable participatory creation of concrete solutions. The theatrical methodology has proven itself as an extremely successful method for language acquisition, and the theatre of the oppressed as a good method for struggle against injustice. With this project, participants will receive targeted support through the methodology of drama education for acquisition of a foreign language, and at the same time will create counter-narratives through the performance of legislative theatre, as well as analyse and search for strategies to solve specific problems in the community. The expected wider effect on society will be evident in the level of integration (as a multi-directional process) and specific legal changes that will reduce administrative violence and discriminatory practices.
The project was financed as part of the call for small projects of Active Citizens Fund with EUR 13,782.62, it lasts from October 1, 2022 to September 30th, 2023. Contact person: Josipa Lulić, ckp.pokaz@gmail.com.
